McCain Campaign Statement on "Troopergate"

From The Wall Street Journal:

“Today’s report shows that the Governor acted within her proper and lawful authority in the reassignment of Walt Monegan. The report also illustrates what we’ve known all along: this was a partisan led inquiry run by Obama supporters and the Palins were completely justified in their concern regarding Trooper Wooten given his violent and rogue behavior. Lacking evidence to support the original Monegan allegation, the Legislative Council seriously overreached, making a tortured argument to find fault without basis in law or fact. The Governor is looking forward to cooperating with the Personnel Board and continuing her conversation with the American people regarding the important issues facing the country.”

So now will our curiously uncurious press finally get around to doing some serious investigative reporting into things that actually matter, like -- oh, I don't know -- Obama's connection to ACORN and their thuggish attempts at voter fraud, the ACORN connection to the subprime fiasco, Wright, Ayers, Dohrn, the Born Alive Infant Protection Act Obama voted against three times, Fannie-Freddie and the fact that Obama was the #2 recipient of their largesse, his wife's hatred of America, his radical ties to Kenya, etc., etc?

So many issues, so little time seems to have been the mantra of the mainstream media ever since "clean, articulate" (his running mate's words, not mine) Barack Obama emerged on the political primary scene. Or rather is the mantra really, Identity politics trumps all; and when it's a white female (Hillary) versus a black male, the latter takes precedence?

Let's face it: when you boil it all down, there is very little difference in terms of policy between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. So something had to tip the scales in Obama's favor regarding the biased liberal media -- and that something is apparently his race and ability to read from a teleprompter.

It's a mad, mad world when I find myself defending Hillary Clinton. But in a side-by-side policy comparison, I'd definitely give her the edge on national security. Whatever my differences with Hillary, methinks she'd at least tell A-jad, Il, Castro and Chavez to take a hike. I could be wrong of course. But it's hard to picture her sitting down to tea with any of them.

My, what a difference a year makes!

To think, just twelve short months ago, the thought of Hillary Clinton winning the White House sent cold chills down my spine; now I am hoping something comes of the Rezko thing, even if it means inaugurating President Clinton (gulp!) in January.

As I said, it is a mad, mad world.
